 4. Use the Perfect Assignment Structure

Most CIPD ACs cap the word count at 390 words with a +/-10% allowance. Anything short of 351 words or more than 429 words on average per AC will have your work returned UNMARKED. Introduction (60–80 words)
State the purpose (thesis statement) early enough. Proceed to prepare the assessor for what the AC will cover. If there are definitions, this is their place. Mention the preferred methodologies, intended models / frameworks, or any data you’ll use at the introduction.

Main Body (250-280 Words)
Immediately after introduction, organise the content paragraphs using concise subheadings. Remember the MEAL-E paragraph structure? This is where you show expertise by integrating CIPD models, summary tables, diagrams, or authoritative HR frameworks. Use short, precise sentences that concisely communicate a single argument for each paragraph.

ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE: All words within TABLES count as CONTENT WORDS. The Title Page, Table of Contents, Reference List, Bibliography, and Appendices are NOT included in this word-count rule.

Conclusion (40–60 words)
Tie everything up with a punchy final judgement. Many students are tempted to present new information in the conclusion with adverse effects. Two or three solid sentences are usually enough for a conclusion WITHOUT writing a subheading (See 5 below)
